Welcome Guest,
Pardon our ads; they're necessary to keep this site running. Thank you for your understanding! Many sites boast a wonderful memberbase, but here at Yavania we pride ourselves on our community. We work hard to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making sure every member and guest is greeted and included in the fun, both OC and IC. Our staff is active, friendly, and almost always available. We are a sandbox roleplay, but we have many sitewide events to spice things up! We have very few limitations when it comes to character creation, and New Members get a huge bonus! We offer a vast spectrum of free-to-play creatures, including but not limited to wolves, lions, hyenas, panda bears, wild dogs, clouded leopards, ball pythons, and eagles! Check out our Overview Guide and Character Creation to see what other species you can play! If the magic system seems overwhelming, don't worry. You do not have to build a character with magic. If you want to, however, we're available to help! Just drop into cbox. ♥

Elements

THE ELEMENTS

On Yavania we offer 18 elemental categories, with 10 powers each. The first power (the default power) is free when you request an element. Additional levels must be bought (see the Points & Buy-Ables page) for 100 AP each. Each character can have up to two elements for free, chosen by the roleplayer HERE). Additional elements come in the form of elemental jewelry, explained on the Points & Buyables page. Elemental Upgrades also exist and can be found on their according elemental pages.

Mastering an Element
Mastering an element is not as easy as buying the powers. Your character must practice them, in the order they appear in the table with the exception of those marked with an *. Those * powers may be skipped in the progression, but must still be practiced. The first time they use a power is considered the discovery period, in which it's normal for the power not to work 100% correctly. The second and third time is the training period, in which they experiment with the power to test its limits; the power still should not work 100% correctly. This is true of every level in every element. You can only practice each power once per thread that will count as one of the three times you must practice.

How many times can I use an element per thread?
Once you have unlocked an element (i.e. Fire, Water, Air, etc.) you gain what will be referred to as a Power Pool. This pool will increase as you gain more powers. Each element has a separate pool. What this pool represents is how often you may use your powers per thread without repercussions. During the course of the thread, you may use your powers in any combination a number of times that is equal to you power pool. Each power requires a number of points from the pool equivalent to the level of the power that is used. For example, X has level 5 in his element. He gets a pool of 8 points [1.5 x 5 = 7.5, rounded up to 8] in that element. This means they can cast a level 5 once and a level 3 once, or they could cast level 2 four times, or they could use any other combination of powers that does not exceed 8. If a character attempts to exceed their limit, see the following section for more information.

What if my character uses more Power Points than they have?
Firstly, they will be unable to use more of that branch of magic for the remainder of the thread. The rest depends on how much they go over their total.

If your character goes over by 1 - 2 PP, then your character will merely become extremely exhausted. This means they will be the slowest speed their species can be (bulky build speed or, if already bulky, minus 5 mph) for the remainder of the thread and will be unable to use spells that require concentration.

If your character goes over by 3+ PP, then your character will fall unconscious for 3 IC posts or until the end of any spar that they are currently in. This means that the spar will default in favor of their enemy, leaving them vulnerable.
