Welcome Guest,
Pardon our ads; they're necessary to keep this lovely site running. Thank you for your understanding! Many sites boast a wonderful memberbase, but here at Yavania we pride ourselves on our community. We work hard to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making sure every member and guest is greeted and included in the fun, both OC and IC. Our staff is active, friendly, and always available. Each season we have a lot of fun OC activities that give our players fun/generous rewards, such as raffles, word searches, and crosswords. IC we have many festivals and site-wide events. Check out our Overview Guide and Character Creation (listed to the right) to see what we offer! You can make a vast spectrum of creatures, including but not limited to wolves, tigers, panda bears, leopards, African wild dogs, clouded leopards, ball pythons, and eagles! If the magic system seems overwhelming, don't worry. You do not have to build a character with magic. If you want to, however, we're available to help! Just drop into cbox. ♥

Growth and Development

Growth, Development, & Biology

Despite the diverse number of creatures that inhabit Yavania, universal growth charts have been created. Your staff understands these do not completely reflect real biology, but we have taken into account as much scientific information we can to create them.

To use the chart, first find your character''s approximate age. Then multiply their adult height or weight with the percentage given. For example, a wolf with the adult stats of 150lbs would be [.25 x 150 = ] 37.5 pounds at 3 months of age.

PREDATORS
This chart affects mammals such as hyenas, canines, felines, and bears.

On Yavania, predator babies are usually weaned at 2 months of age and never later than 3 months.

Development

When thinking of character mentality, take the age of your character and multiple it by 10 to see what the human mentality equivalent is. Example: 0.25 = 2.5 years old; 0.5 = 5 years old; 0.75 = 7.5 years old. This is a rough estimate.

The following are the stages of life for predator/omnivore characters on Yavania:

Manes
For lions (and other creatures that you buy manes for via longer fur), their mane begins growing at 1 year of age and finishes at 2 years of age.

Feat
Description
Babe (0 months - 11 months)
0 - 24 days (0 years)
Until babies are 20-24 days old, they cannot hear, see, or even move very well. They rely on their mother's milk for the entirety of their diet.
1 month (0 years)
At this age, they don't know very much yet and are still learning to speak. They must learn to use their senses and body, including how to walk. They may start to try to explore a little outside the den. They still rely mostly on their mother's milk but are getting some partially-digested or soft meats.
2 months (0 years)
They become fully weaned between now and 3 months of age, depending on the mother and babe's preferences. Dominance and play fighting begin as they practice coordination and movement. Growth of adult hair around nose and eyes.
3 months (0.25 years)
Babes are weaned and eating meat.
4 months (0.5 years)
Babes are beginning to explore more and more.
5 months (0.5 years)
Babes begin to adventure out more but they tend not to wander too far from their homelands without adults. A mile away from their home is the most they might wander, without a parent.
6 months (0.5 years)
Babes begin to accompany adults on hunts to watch and try to learn.
7 - 10 months (0.5 years)
Babes are still learning skills necessary to survive.
11 months (0.75 years)
The babes begin to look more like their adult counterparts, still retaining child-like mentality but growing each day. They have more stamina and can journey further. Attending hunts with adults is common as well as hands on practice as they get closer to a year in age.
Teen (1 year - 1.75)
1 - 1.75 years
Characters at this age are teens. Younger teens are still child-like, not yet done growing mentally or physically (though they have reached their adult height). Until the age of 1.5, they are likely still seen as children by adults. However, characters at this age may hold a worker rank in a realm.
Adult
2 - 6.75 years
At this age, characters are sexually mature and fully mentally developed. They may hold council ranks, including king/queen, and come and go from realms as they please.
Elder
7-9 years
Characters might be starting to deteriorate mentally and physically. Mental deterioration may vary, as not all characters will suffer this. Note: this is different for creatures with the unique power metabolic.

HERBIVORES
All herbivore babes are usually weaned at 5 - 6 months of age. The following chart is for animals such as horses, deer, ponies, antelope, etc.

The following are the stages of life for hoofed-herbivores characters on Yavania:

Antlers
For species that naturally have antlers, they begin to grow at 0.75 years of age. Additionally, deer shed their antlers in late fall and regrow them each spring.

Feat
Description
Babe (0 months - 11 months)
0 - 4 months
Unlike predator babes, herbivore babes can walk and run quickly after birth. They have to be able to to survive, though they lack the coordination of adults.
5 - 6 months
Babes are fully weaned.
6 - 11 months
The babes begin to look more like their adult counterparts, still retaining child-like mentality but growing each day.

BIRDS
This chart affects small birds such as finches and songbirds; not raptors like eagles and hawks.

Most nest-dwelling birds hatch with their eyes closed but they usually open by 7 days. At this time, they practice using their wings (mostly for walking around). Small birds learn to fly within their first season of life and are often quite good at it by the time they are 6 months old, though they are still babes by Yavania's standards.
